Why put a batch number on honey?

Honey from different hives, flowers or seasons tastes and sets differently. A batch number on every jar tells you which harvest it came from when a customer asks, and lets you find every jar from one batch. The barcode holds the same number for your own stock.

My honey crystallises. Should the label say so?

Many packers add a short line such as “Pure honey may crystallise; warm gently to make it liquid.” Add a text box in the editor. Check what your product’s rules ask for, such as the FSSAI labelling rules in India where you sell it.

Where do the ingredients and my address go?

This is the small label for the lid or the side. For a full label with ingredients, licence number, manufacturer and customer care, use the packed food label, which fits many 500 g jars.

Is this barcode for shops?

No. It holds your batch number, for your own stock and tracing. A shop barcode needs a number your business owns, from GS1; print it on the retail barcode sticker.
